About
I'm an archaeological scientist with interests in palaeolithic archaeology (early prehistory in general actually). I specialise in stone tool functional analysis. In terms of human evolution I'm broadly interested in cognitive development and how changes in living strategy are reflected in technology. I primarily focus on the functional analysis of stone tools and raw material sourcing. I'm also highly interested in developing robust method, particularly in microwear/residue analysis where I experiment with, and try to develop, novel approaches.
I'm currently employed as a post-doctoral research associate on a project studying changes in modern human behaviour, in Italy, at different environmental/climatic stages following the last glacial maximum up to the end of the pleistocene.
Other projects I'm working on include research in South Africa and work closer to home in the Yorkshire Dales. My main interests are actually in the early human occupation of Britain so I'm also working on developing an interesting project in that context.
